Eat Smart Restaurants

Windsor and Essex County

The Eat Smart! Restaurant Program is a provincial program. It recognizes Ontario restaurants which meet exceptional standards by:

having a variety of healthier food choices on the menu, and by request
meeting exceptional standards in safe food handling
having kitchen staff certified in safe food handling
complying with the smoking by-law or if no bylaw, providing more than 50% non-smoking seating.

The program is administered for the Province of Ontario by the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit. Cordination between different levels of government is always problematic. So it is no surprise that each the different levels has a few restaurants on their list that the other level omits. In a generous spirit we have included them all.

However we have declined to include Par Excellence Western Secondary School, Amherstburg, because of the onerous prerequisites for obtaining a reservation.
